Analysis of Volunteering in Region České Budějovice
WOLMUTH, Karolína
The bachelor thesis deals with the issue of volunteering. The aim of this work is the analysis of volunteering in the České Budějovice region. To fulfill this goal is introduced the basic theoretical background and description of the current state of volunteering in the Czech Republic. In the first three chapters of the thesis there is a definition of volunteering, its use in the social sphere, and the approach of the Czech public to volunteering. Volunteer management is described in more detail, with an emphasis on the process of selecting volunteers, ensuring their preparation for volunteering, and attention is also paid to the evaluation and motivation of volunteers. The practical part describes the realized qualitative research, whose aim was to analyze the implementation of volunteering in the České Budějovice region. The main research question was: What does the issue of volunteer management currently look like in the České Budějovice area? Five partial research questions were derived from this question. The methods of data collection were semi-structured interviews and also the analysis of documents. The sample consisted of five communication partners from organizations in the České Budějovice region, who act as a volunteer coordinator. Data from interviews were analyzed using grounded theory design. The outcome was to propose a new theory in which emphasis is placed on strengthening the role of supervision in volunteer management. Volunteers do not use supervision, and contact the coordinators if necessary. However, coordinators are burdened with increased administration and cannot take responsibility for the work of the employees of organizations where volunteers operate and who should provide the necessary support and guidance to volunteers. In addition, supervision should serve as a tool to strengthen the identity of the volunteer and to increase interest in volunteering in society through awareness raising by well-run volunteers.

In none of the hospices visited volunteer program evaluation does not take place. Mobile hospices are facing concerns about the responsibilities of volunteers and difficulties in communication with families, which in some hospices lead to the fact that the volunteers in direct care are not involved. In the theoretical part of this work the author offers answers that bring literature to the problems described by her research. Together with the best advice received from respondents of her research are then summarized in the form of a practical handbook for VSMs, which can be...
